Triplex glass panes are laminated safety glasses constructed according to the EN 12543 standard. They consist of two or more glasses glued together with one or more layers of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) films. In case of breakage, the glass shards remain attached to the PVB film, thus avoiding any injuries caused by the accidental fall of the shards. In a fully framed installation the glass shards are retained by the PVB film and the glass still holds a residual strength until it is replaced.
